Time Spent Conferencing

My wife Holly and I traveled to the 3rd Annual Nicaraguan-Connection Conference in Franklin, Tennessee last week. We met with Pastor Ruben Asuncion Zeledon, President of the Nicaraguan Methodist Church. We spent time with Paulette West, Executive Director for United Methodist Volunteers in Mission, Southeastern Jurisdiction (UMVIM SEJ). We conversed with Rev. Edgar Avitia Legarda (via satellite), Executive Secretary for Latin America and the Caribbean for the General Board of Global Ministries.

Our North Georgia Conference was well represented and joined missioners from all parts of the United States. I especially enjoyed spending time with some New England Conference Methodists who partnered with several of our North Georgia churches to build My Redeemer UMC in Las Parcelas, Nicaragua. I also enjoyed time with a young Texan from Houston named Alberto Williams. He is a Provisional Elder hoping to be appointed next year to a position of fulltime UMC missionary serving in Nicaragua.
